Going for a swim in the warm weather? Make sure to check the water quality first!

With temperatures hitting +30° in parts of the country today, people across the country are heading to bathing locations in droves. If you want to check the quality of the water before diving in, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have developed an online platform where they post up-to-date information regarding bathing quality, the presence of lifeguards and other important information about beaches, lakes and rivers.

UK NGOs concerned as Theresa May Abolishes Department of Energy and Climate Change

Public figures and NGOs in the U.K. have expressed concern over new Prime Minister, Theresa May’s decision to abolish the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC).

It was announced this week, following her cabinet reshuffle that the DECC would be dismantled and that its functions would now be carried out by the newly formed Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy under Secretary of State Greg Clark, M.P.

This is seen by many as a downgrading of the priority status given to Climate Change, given that the department does not have the words Climate Change in its title.

Should we put a price on nature?

While there are few environmental issues upon which environmental scientists, activists and communicators universally agree, there are none as divisive as the question of whether or not a price should be put on nature as a way of protecting it. The concept that the value of healthy forests, rivers, animals and insects to the global economy could be monetised, and indeed prove crucial to the continuation of economic activity, sparked off a debate that continues to this day.
