You are probably wondering where you could go this week end to survive those high temperatures, look no further, here’s a list of the best beaches to go to this weekend! Clean coasts and Blue flag, both programs run by An Taisce, have release the results of their studies, classifying Irish beaches. Clean coast’s aim is to engage communities in the protection of Ireland’s beaches, seas and marine life, through coastal clean-up initiatives and marine litter surveys. And the Blue flag is a European program.
The heritage organisation has dismissed the campaign as ’empty PR’, while the semi-state company continues to extract peat on an industrial scale, in what An Taisce’s Climate Change Committee spokesperson John Gibbons describes as ‘one of the least sustainable and most environmentally unfriendly industries on the face of the planet’.

The days may be getting noticeably warmer and the evenings getting longer.
But it is more important this year to remember that the laws around the hedge-cutting season HAVE NOT CHANGED. And it is now illegal to cut hedges until September 1st. Hedges are exceptionally important for wildlife. They are valuable refuges for birds, wildlife, wildflower, shrubs and much more and we must protect these incredible natural resources.
